Ajax 2022 Tournament

Welcome to the AJAX Invitational Ringette Tournament
February 11th - 13th, 2021

(Updated February 10, 2022)

Ajax Pickering Power Ringette is pleased to welcome you to the AJAX Invitational Tournament - LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

If you plan to attend, please ensure your teams and spectators review the updated Facility Safety Protocols that will be in place at AJAX and PICKERING arenas - CLICK HERE.

Ajax Pickering Ringette is working in partnership with our municipalities, Durham Public Health and Ringette Ontario in order to be able to host a successful and safe event for athletes and families. This event will be a medium sized tournament (59 Teams) with a focus on safety, competition and fun. We are asking all guests to consider their responsibility and role in helping to ensure a successful tournament, and minimize risk wherever possible.

TOURNAMENT COVID SAFETY:

Tammy Henderson, APRA COVID Safety Officer, will be accessible throughout the tournament weekend to provide support and answer any questions you may have about the health status of your team. If you are unsure of a situation, or have questions about procedures, safety protocols, or what to do in case of illness, Tammy is an experienced healthcare professional and will be available via email or by text/phone at 905-409-4690.

Here are some key reminders and guidelines that APRA will be following this weekend:

  • Do not come to the arena if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19. This extends to all members of your household travelling with you, or players/families staying together in the same hotel room.
  • If a player on your team develops symptoms at any time, unfortunately they will not be permitted to participate this weekend. Please inform our Tournament Chair and the APRA COVID Safety Officer immediately and we will evaluate next steps on a case-by-case basis (including protocols for close contacts). It is our intention to follow the latest advice from Durham Public Health in an effort to keep teams safe and on the ice.
  • If someone is symptomatic or has recently tested positive for COVID-19, regardless if they have completed their 5 day isolation period, they should not return to play Ringette for 10 days from the date symptoms began or when they tested positive (whichever happened first).
  • We are counting on your partnership - Throughout the weekend APRA will likely be fielding questions or given information about a team’s health status. Support and advice will be based on feedback provided by Durham Public Health and it is our intention to keep this information confidential. As such, we will continue to remind teams to remain diligent and monitor for any symptoms on your team and within your broader group, and, notify our tournament organizers immediately if there is any change in health status.

IMPORTANT:

Tournaments typically have a high congregation of people intermixing in non-ringette activity settings, such as dinners at restaurants, hotels, carpooling, and social mixing of the parents and the players in the facilities. While these aspects create some of the greatest memories, everyone must be cognizant that these also increase risk of exposure and threaten the ability of the team(s) and/or event to finish. As such, APRA will make best efforts to avoid non-ringette interactions wherever possible, and we are asking our guests to remain diligent and prioritize team safety prior to the event, and throughout the tournament weekend:

  • Separate rooms within the facility for team meetings, lunches, etc. will not be available.
  • Separate areas will be made available to tie skates, or for those that do not wish to use dressing rooms.
  • The event will not include vendors or other fundraising activities.
  • Avoid team meals in restaurants as a group between games.
  • Avoid carpooling wherever possible.
  • Continue to exercise diligence and safety at hotels and during other team/group interactions away from the rink (i.e. masks indoors at all times, proper hand hygiene, and social distancing).

Ajax Pickering Ringette is committed to providing a safe and rewarding experience for all players. If you have any questions, please email tournaments@apringette.com.

  • REGISTRATION DESK:
    • AJAX: The tournament registration desk at Ajax Community Centre will be located in the concourse overlooking Pad 2 in the middle of the facility. While entry at Ajax facilities is permitted 20 minutes prior to ice times, 2 Team Staff members will be permitted to enter arenas 30 minutes prior to scheduled game times to sign in at the registration desk, secure dressing room keys, etc).
    • PICKERING: The tournament registration desk at Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex will be located inside the O'Brien Arena lobby. In Pickering you will have access to dressing rooms 30 minutes prior to ice times.
